Important Information
NOI & Project Submission Deadline as Expired

Who is eligible to submit?
TOP TEN Award
  • Anyone who was involved in bringing the project to reality including owner, developer, architect, engineer, contractor, sub-contractor, consultant, etc. is eligible to submit entries regardless of project size, budget, style or building type.
  • One submittal per project represents the entire project team. Two or more companies can jointly submit a project for competition, but must designate one “lead person” to be contacted by the Jury and event organizers.
  • Joint submissions are encouraged as the TOP TEN awards celebrate the building team’s ability to confront tough issues and work together toward a successful project completion.

M/WBE Community Impact Award
  • Private sector projects, additions, or renovations that demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to engage M/WBE contractors on project when no M/WBE participation goals were required.
  • One submittal per project represents the entire project team. Two or more companies can jointly submit a project for competition, but must designate one “lead person” to be contacted by the Jury and event organizers.

What type of projects can be submitted?
  • New projects, additions, or renovations completed between January 1, 2013 and December 31, 2015 or a project that was topped out in 2015 but has not been completed.
  • Projects within a 75-mile radius of either Dallas or Fort Worth that have a minimum of (1) team member with an office in the Dallas or Fort Worth locale. For instance if you are an out of state Architect but used local consultants or have a local owner, you can submit with that local entity as a joint submission. The intent is to have representation
for each project at the event.
  • The criteria in which projects are judged evolve with each jury and the projects submitted. The intent of the project narrative and jury questions is to convey how this project and/or experience is exceptional and unique. The narrative should be compellingand explain the project, team, and the journey.

What projects have been awarded in the past?
  • The past list of TOP TEN winners is remarkable in its variety. To see what projects have been in the TOP TEN and the first recipient of the M/WBE Community Impact Award, see Past Winning Projects.

Why is a Notice of Intent to Submit (NOI) required?
  • To save your team time and money, a notice of intent to submit is required in order to eliminate duplicate entries.
  • If there are multiple submissions for the same project you will be asked to work together on a joint submission.

How are Topping Out project entries judged?
  • As Topping Out celebrates the entire design and construction effort, judging will be based on each submitted project’s: positive impact to the community through design creativity, operational and/or technological innovation, collaboration between owner, design professionals and construction entities, successful coordination of complex
projects, and overall project contribution to the quality of life in North Texas.
  • Judging will take place at the University of Texas at Arlington's College of Architecture, Planning and Public Affairs in mid-August. The Jury is selected to represent a wide range of influences. Past jurors have included a diverse group of prominent professionals and civic leaders from across the state.

What are the submission fees?
  • A $150 fee for the first project submission (and $100 for each additional project) will be due with the full proposal. For a joint submission, a $100 fee from each company is due with the full proposal (and $75 for each additional project filed jointly).

What do the proceeds of Topping Out benefit?
  • Proceeds from Topping Out benefit the non-profit entity, the Architecture Chapter of the UT Arlington Alumni Association and it’s selected charity for 2016.

Why is Topping Out different?
  • Topping Out is unlike any other construction project award event in the area in a number of ways. See Why is Topping Out Different to find out why.

Disclaimers/Release
• By entering this competition, all individuals, organizations, and companies named in the team information agree to the Disclaimers/Release.
